The article above briefly mentions that an anonymous former student at La Martinerie is donating a sculpture to the City of Chateauroux-Deols. The sculpture will be placed in one of the roundabouts between Chateauroux and Deols - located just as you exit Belle Isle and head towards Deols. This statue is a memorium to the lasting friendship between the Fench people and Americans who lived, studied, worked and played in Chateauroux and Deols. If you would like to be a part of this momentous occasion, you may donate to the cause through the paypal links placed throughout this website. Please designate your donation to "The Gift." Your $50.00 gift will assure your name engraved on a brick to be placed at the base of the statue as a lasting reminder of the French-American relationship.
If you have viewed the photos from Chas 2007, you can see what a great time we Americans had. I'm sure the coming event will be more of the same. I am working to get a good rate at the hotel most of us stayed in last year. Pinch those pennies; sell cookies; have a garage sale - do what it takes to join us next September!
This month has been a sorrowful one for many of our Chateauroux friends. Susan Batch's husband, Ted Hardman, passed away. The Mother of Dawn Palmer and Nelle, The Mother of Karen Reistad have finished their life's work. Mary Mann Knox '61 has passed away after a long illness. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are heartfelt for those who have said a temporary farewell to their loved ones. |
